Bee-Energiedialog 2024: State Secretary Nimmermann and Bee President Peter for the energy transition

Today, the Bee-Energied dialogue takes place in Berlin, which is considered a platform to implement the energy transition. The event marks the beginning of the energy policy year 2024 and is visited by numerous actors from the energy industry, media and political representatives. With almost 6000 digitally integrated guests, the industry is looking at the challenges of the coming months.

State Secretary Dr. In his speech, Philipp Nimmermann emphasized the progress on the way to the energy transition. In 2023, 14 GW solar power was installed, almost a doubling compared to the previous year. The installation of wind turbines on land also rose by around 50%, while almost 9 GW were defeated at sea - more than the overall performance in German waters.

These developments also have an impact on Berlin and the energy transition in the region. As part of the expansion of renewable energies, planning and approval accelerations are increasingly being sought in order to shorten the implementation times. This could help Berlin to increase more renewable energies and thus reduce local environmental pollution.

Bee President Dr. Simone Peter emphasized the importance of the energy transition and called for a constant reform pace. It emphasized the need to reduce obstacles to renewable energies, adapt the electricity market and to forcate the heat turnaround. The expansion of the domestic hydrogen economy and the creation of a decentralized back-up of renewable energies, storage and sector coupling were highlighted as further important steps.

The energy transition is a deeply democratic project and firmly anchored in the regions. This is also reflected in Berlin, where middle classes and renewable energy sectors want to further invest. In times of growing populism, Dr. Peter the need for a clear compass and backbone to secure an innovative location and sustainable prosperity.

The energy transition therefore has both national and local effects that can influence the quality of life of the people in Berlin. Due to the increased expansion of renewable energies and the focus on sustainable energy sources, Berlin could serve as a pioneer for a green and sustainable energy supply in the future.
