BDI calls for reforms for the future of Volkswagen and industry in Germany

In Berlin, the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI) is alarm: In view of the challenges that Volkswagen learn, the industrial representatives urge urgently needed reforms. BDI President Siegfried Russwurm commented in an interview with the "Welt am Sonntag" and made it clear that the problems in Germany are obvious. However, the political reaction to this crisis leaves an inadequate impression.

The difficulties therefore not only affect a single company, but also put a strain on the entire industrial landscape of Germany. Russwurm primarily criticized the "far too high energy prices" in international comparison, excessive bureaucracy, high tax rates and a public infrastructure, which is partly unreliable and insufficient. These points are increasingly becoming a serious obstacle to the competitiveness of German companies.

approach to e-mobility

Volkswagen has experienced mostly positive business hours in recent years and decades. Nevertheless, Russwurm finds that the framework conditions in Germany have fundamentally deteriorated. This leads to major problems in various markets and market segments than was the case recently. The BDI boss therefore demands that the introduction of e-mobility quickly promote. This is not only ecological, but also of great importance for securing a strong industrial location in Germany.

"There are very good reasons to advance e-mobility in accordance with securing a strong industrial location," Russwurm reports to the political decision-makers. The urgent need for reforms is obvious, especially in times when companies like Volkswagen are under increased pressure. The path to more sustainable mobility could not only help to achieve ecological goals, but also to secure economic performance.

The situation illustrates how important it is for German industry to adapt to both changing market conditions and to meet the challenges of global competition. In this context it becomes clear that politics must not only react to the specific difficulties of individual companies, but rather to develop a comprehensive strategy to support the entire industry.
