Construction site on the A111: Detirement for the first holiday Saturday
Due to extensive renovation work, the A111, also known as Reinickendorf feeder, has been closed to traffic since this morning. This lock is expected to continue until 10 p.m. This is particularly annoying because it is the first Saturday of the summer vacation and experience has shown that there is a lot of traffic on the highways that day.
The traffic information center (VIZ) strongly recommends that the drivers to avoid A111 this Saturday or to postpone their trips to another day. However, if this is not possible, there are some alternative bypasses that can be used.
For those who want to drive north, it is recommended to take the Pankow feeder A114. Another option is to drive via the B5 Heerstrasse to the Spandau A10 motorway junction, also known as a western Berlin ring. From there, the journey via Hennigsdorf and Heiligensee can continue. The corresponding detour leads via Hennigsdorfer Chaussee, Hennigsdorfer Straße, Heiligenseestrasse and Karolinenstrasse.
The construction work on the A111 is expected to continue until August 28th. During this time, only one lane is available in both directions. Drivers should be prepared for further closures, especially on the following days:
-
- July (Friday) 8 p.m. to July 31 (Monday) 5 a.m.
-
- August (Friday) 8 p.m. to 21 August (Monday) 5 a.m.
-
- August (Saturday) 8 a.m. to 28 August (Monday) 5 a.m.
The viz points out that there is a maximum track width of 3 meters each in both directions during the entire construction period. This means that large transport is not possible.
For drivers and holidaymakers who will be on the A111 in the coming weeks, it is advisable to observe the above -mentioned bypass and take any closures into account in order to save time and nerves.
