Tree protection in Berlin: Term for exceptional permits 2024

The district office Reinickendorf calls for applications for exemptions in accordance with the tree protection ordinance to submit until the beginning of November to ensure processing before February 28, 2025. The tree protection regulation protects all deciduous trees in Berlin, except fruit trees, from felling that must be approved in advance to protect animals that live in the trees.

The application for exceptional permits should include the number, type and scope of the trees concerned as well as the reason for the requested action. Measures such as removing dead wood or damaged branches without permission are permitted, as are the falling of branches to a certain diameter. Applications are to be sent to the Environment and Nature Conservation Office and are processed subject to fees. Further information can be found on www.berlin.de.
