Building turbo in criticism: Environmental aid calls for realignment

In a current outcry against the politics of the Federal Government, German Environmental Aid (DUH) raised the alarm! On the occasion of the first reading of the building code amendment in the German Bundestag, they call up all MPs in an urgent appeal to position themselves against the harmful “construction turbo” paragraph 246e.

Barbara Metz, the federal manager of the DUH, is stunned by ignoring the massive criticism of scientists and civil society groups. "It's shattering," she explains with vehemence. And she is right! The current course of the government is perceived by the experts as an attack on the environment and future generations. Instead of relying on sustainable solutions, the government is promoting a rash building policy that will only give concrete blocks for the next generations.

a concrete block for the future

The newly introduced paragraph 246e is said to accelerate housing! This means that in areas with a tense housing market, far -reaching deviations from existing regulations are possible by the end of 2027. But what does that really mean? That sounds like a license for area sealing and nature destruction! For months, scientists have been warning that the perishable soil speculation could heat up and destroy precious green areas.

Metz continues and criticizes the government's shop window policy sharply: "This is all only hypocritical!" Instead of bringing real progress, only a sham solution is presented here. Instead, the experts demand a clear focus on interior development, the renovation and the intelligent densification of existing buildings. The federal government, on the other hand, is satisfied with this short -sighted approach. Who will have to wear the consequences for the environment and the cityscape?

The big waiting for real solutions

The DUH and its fellow campaigners agree: the previous measures are not suitable for creating affordable living space. They fear a further increase in costs and a displacement of people from their usual habitats. Metz appeals to MPs to reverse the wrong politics and to delete the paragraph 246e from the draft law. A call to which many citizens should join!

Will something move in the Bundestag? Time is running and the voice of civil society must be heard! The decision about the future building policy is now in the hands of the MPs!
