Rail traffic: ODEG boss predicts problems due to defects until at least 30 July

Title: Odeg boss: Defective leads to impairments in rail traffic until the end of July

Berlin/Potsdam (dpa/bb) - Passengers of the railway company ODEG have to count on problems on the lines RB51, RB37 and RB33 for at least two weeks. As ODEG Managing Director Lars Gehrke emphasized to the German Press Agency, the replacement concept will remain in force due to the defective trains until "at least July 30".

Last week due to disorders on the air conditioning systems, eight new trains had to be temporarily pulled out of circulation. Since then, passengers have been available to passengers, replacement traffic or older trains as alternatives. On Monday there was a meeting with the manufacturer Alstom, in which all problems were identified. By Wednesday or Thursday, Alstom is planning to submit an action plan to remedy the defects.

Alstom confirmed in the previous week that a new generation of air conditioning technology was installed in the new trains, which does not offer the required quality under regular operating conditions and at high temperatures. These defects only noticed in passenger operation.

on the RB33 line (Potsdam Hauptbahnhof - Beelitz Stadt - Jüterbog), ODEG relies on older vehicles as part of the replacement concept that run accordingly. Older trains and replacement buses are also used on the RB51 (Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof - Rathenow). Passengers of the RB37 (Berlin-Wannsee-Beelitz city) currently have to switch to alternative connections, since no ODEG trains are available.

The ODEG and Alstom are working to fix the problems and restore regular train traffic as quickly as possible. Passengers should expect restrictions by the end of July, but will be informed about alternative transport options.
