Berlin-Gesundbrunnen train station: Regional train passes through without a stop-passengers are annoyed

regional trains between Berlin and the Baltic Sea are often overcrowded, which leads to delays and failures. In some cases, scheduled stops were left out, which led to inconvenience with passengers. An incident occurred on August 4, when a regional express without stopping at the Berlin-Gesundbrunnen station, allegedly due to overcrowding. The train attendant only informed the passengers after departure over the elevated hold. Passengers who wanted to go to Gesundbrunnen were asked to go to Bernau and return from there. Because of this, the passengers could not see how many people remained at the Gesundbrunnen station and unexpectedly had to look for a different connection.

A Berlin passenger estimates that a total of around four dozen travelers experienced a 21-minute drive into the blue. Even two German railway employees who worked in the catering trade to Munich had to go back from Bernau to reach their Intercity Express in good time. The Berliner is annoyed by the lack of information before departure and the lack of an apology on the part of the train attendant.

Deutsche Bahn confirmed that some trains had to drop out in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen due to high utilization. The capacity has already been increased, but the framework conditions such as available staff, trains and route capacity must be taken into account. Germany has one of the most utilized rail networks in Europe.

The connections of and to the Baltic Sea are particularly in demand on beautiful weekends, public holidays and during vacation. The railway recommends using trains outside the main traffic times to avoid high capacity utilization.

The RE3 line connects Berlin with the Baltic Sea via Eberswalde, Angermünde, Züssow and Greifswald. The RE5 line leads via Neustrelitz to Rostock and Stralsund. The trains are not only well occupied in summer, but also weekend commuters use these connections. The introduction of the Germany ticket in May was expected to continue to increase the passenger numbers.

Due to the expected additional demand, the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania transport company ordered further regional train rides. Additional trains were also used to compress the traffic on the RE3 and RE5 lines. Nevertheless, there can be failures due to construction sites. Travelers should book tickets and reservations for long -distance trains to Rostock, Stralsund and Rügen at an early stage.

Overall, the problems in regional train traffic between Berlin and the Baltic Sea have only been partially alleviated by the additional train journeys. In order to avoid inconvenience, it is recommended to check alternative options and use alternative connections.
