B.Z. Unveiled: Berlin police and customs reveal numerous violations in Neukölln shops
According to a report by BZ Berlin, the police, the customs office and the regulatory office in Berlin-Neukölln checked a number of shops. The balance sheet of the composite control was sobering: from illegal disposable E-cigarettes to refused information on employment relationships to illegal shisha tobacco that flew out of a window, everything was there. Particularly explosive: In a bar on Karl-Marx-Platz, the illegally mixed shisha tobacco was hidden in the pizza oven. The amount is said to have amounted to over 5 kilos. Individual shishas are usually filled with around 5-18 grams and cost from 8 euros. These illegal practices cause considerable tax damage.
As a Berlin citizen, I am concerned about the legality and the decency for business in my district. Such violations not only lead to tax damage, but also endanger consumers' health and damage the reputation of the quarter. The fact that such illegal activities even take place in otherwise suspicious bars and restaurants shows that the authorities have to intensify their efforts to maintain the rule of law. In addition to ensuring the composite control carried out by the police, customs and regulatory office, further measures must be taken to prevent such abuse. This is crucial to ensure that Berlin-Neukölln remains a safe and righteous place for all citizens.
