Obligation to identify in Berlin free and beach baths tightened: New regulation should ensure security
Obligation to identify in Berlin free and beach baths
Since last weekend, all Berlin open and beach baths have been in charge of ID. The Berlin bathing companies have pointed out that this regulation applies without exception. So far, the new regulation has been handled quite well, but this is over now.
The introduction of ID checks is a first step to pronounce house bans and keep control of the guests. Further measures are in progress and are coordinated in cooperation with the Berlin police and the Senate Administration.
The strengthening of the security measures results from outbreaks of violence, which have taken place particularly in Columbiabad in Neukölln. One of the measures is the admission control. All guests from the age of 14 must now show a ID card, a passport or a driver's license in the original. Pupils aged 14 and over have to present their student ID.
In order to avoid overcrowded bathrooms, the bathroom companies also plan to impose entry stops much earlier than before and to increase the security personnel.
The Berlin police will also be more present by positioning mobile guards in front of the outdoor pools. According to the Senate Administration, mobile guards will be used at Columbiabad in Neukölln, at the Prinzenbad in Kreuzberg, as well as at the summer pool at the islander in Steglitz and the Pankow summer pool.
With these measures, the bathroom companies and the Berlin police hope to improve security in the outdoor and beach baths and prevent violent incidents.
