Flatible swimming animals: tips for safe bathing fun and correct handling
Watch out for bathing fun - safety risks of inflatable swimming animals
In summer, bathing fun for many people is part of the permanent inventory of every vacation. Especially on swimming animals and in the sea, inflatable swimming animals, air mattresses and swimming rings are very popular. They promise cozy wave swings, funny water fun and supposed security. But caution is advised: inflatable swimming animals are not among the swimming aids and offer hardly any real swimming stability and safety in the water. The TÜV association warns of the security risks and gives tips for safe handling of inflatable swimming animals.
Why are inflatable swimming animals insecure?
André Siegl, speaker for health protection at the TÜV association, explains: “Air mattresses, tires and swimming animals are not swimming aids, but floating leisure articles for use on and in the water. They are water toys and offer hardly any real swimming stability and safety in the water.” In contrast, swimming aids such as swimming wings, swimming belts and swimming windows give children and non -swimmers: additional buoyancy inside and support learning to swim. These aids must meet strict security requirements, while less strict regulations apply to inflatable swimming animals. Due to this, consumers should be better paid for the correct use of these articles.
How do you recognize safe inflatable swimming animals?
When buying inflatable swimming animals, consumers should pay attention to certain criteria inside to ensure security. Products that are larger than 1.20 meters should be produced according to the series of standards EN ISO 25649 and should be provided with a test mark of an independent test center, such as a TÜV seal or the GS sign for "tested security". This series of standards guarantees that the product corresponds to the European minimum security standards. However, a CE marking alone is not a sufficient guarantee for the quality of these products. In addition, the material should be robust and resistant to avoid cracks and porosity. The valve must be easy to impress and safe. Furthermore, bright, striking colors such as green, yellow or orange improve visibility in the water and make it easier to keep an eye on parents.
Tips for safe handling of inflatable swimming animals
In order to avoid bathing accidents, it is important that parents accompany their children into the water. Particular caution is required when using large inflatable toys. Children and non -swimmers: With such toys, there should never be alone in the water with such toys and remain in the standing deep water without accompaniment. In addition, air mattresses and large inflatable toys can be easily captured by wind and current and driven away by the shore. This can be dangerous, especially in open waters such as lakes and seas. Therefore, parents should always keep an eye on their children and stay in their arms.
Security in the water begins with the correct selection of swimming aids and water toys and ends with the constant supervision of the parents. When buying water toys, it is therefore important to pay attention to tested security and to select high quality products.
