Ambelmann day: A cult that conquers the streets!

on October 13th is not just some day-the traffic lights are celebrated! A date that is bundled with a lot of history: in 1961 the legendary traffic light male in East Berlin was presented. Survived from the wall carrier, they soon developed into true symbols of unity and life together. On this year's traffic lights at 1 p.m. the new "Ampelmann helps" project will be heralded-and this will cause a good attention everywhere in Berlin!

The place of the event? Right on the Hackeschen Markt, where the celebrations around the two most sought -after traffic light male, Stopi and Walki , will take place. Here, visitors can expect a spectacle full of surprises, which should set a strong sign of cohesion in society, especially after the day of German unity!

Together for more security in traffic

But why is this day so important? In Berlin it is becoming more and more hectic, traffic often resembles a chaotic mess. Markus Heckhausen, the creative head behind Ampelmann GmbH, sums it up: "In the city we experience a coexistence too often that is not one. The traffic light male show us that it can only work together - whether red or green!"

The initiatives around the traffic lights should also draw attention to the safety of the weakest road users-pedestrians. At the Hackeschen Markt, at the Oranienburger/Rosenthaler Straße intersection, there are exciting, humorous actions directly on the pedestrian crossing. The goal? Create more awareness of our everyday life in road traffic!

And that's not all! The two popular traffic lights will soon also come up in 3D and will playfully educate the little ones about traffic safety through entertaining learning videos. Heckhausen has big plans: "We live in a time when society drifts apart. Our traffic light male can help build bridges and promote dialogue."

gifts and surprises at 200 traffic lights!

The traffic light team will provide additional joy to celebrate the day: Small gifts are hidden at 200 traffic lights in the city! A means of encouraging citizens to take a look at the light signs when crossing the streets. And who knows? Perhaps there is also one or the other beautifully filled stomach smile on the march!

About the cult figure Ampelmann

The history of the traffic lights begins in 1961 when the traffic psychologist Karl Peglau invented creative signs for pedestrian signals. Together with designer Markus Heckhausen, after the turn, they campaigned for the cult symbols to be forgotten. Today the traffic light male stands for a lot: tradition, security and a sign of a fairer cooperation.
