Air France and Munich: A flight to the history of aviation!
München, Deutschland - NAG/NAG Redaktion-On October 18, 1949, an Air France aircraft at Munich-Riem Airport landed to Vienna for the first time. This historical connection marked the beginning of the presence of Air France in Munich, which was quickly expanded. The Paris - Frankfurt - Berlin route followed in 1950, initially served by Sncase SE.161 Languedoc. The opening of an agency in Munich in 1951 and the establishment of freight connections sealed the rise of Air France in the Bavarian metropolis.
The 1970s brought pilgrimages to Lourdes and optimized times for business travelers. In 1992 the move to Erdinger Moos, where Air France was the first airline with the Airbus A340. A spectacular highlight was the first - and only - landing of the concorde on October 26, 1996, which attracted around 5000 spectators despite adverse weather conditions. Today Air France flies up to four times a day from Munich to Paris, a sign of constant connection and the inheritance that began over 70 years ago.
