Ace's good ways of initiative: three years of climate pendulum challenge support companies in environmentally friendly mobility
ace draws positive balance for the climate pendulum challenge
The ACE Team "Environmental Freunde", Europe's mobility companion, reflects the successful implementation of the climate pendulum challenge in the past three years. The project was supported as part of the National Climate Protection Initiative (NKI) and made it possible for 25 companies nationwide to inspire their employees for environmentally friendly alternatives.
The climate pendulum challenge served as a playful approach to enable companies to get into the subject of "mobility management". During the three -week challenge, the employees of the participating companies had the opportunity to try alternative means of transport for their way to work instead of using the car. A decisive success factor was the diverse test fiction park, which consisted of pedelecs, folding wheels, cargo bikes and public transport tickets and was provided by the ACE team. In this way, the participants were able to test various environmentally friendly means of transport and find the right alternative to the car. The mode of transport and the saved CO2 emissions were recorded via a hands-on platform.
Thanks to the climate pendulum challenge, a total of 20 tons of CO2 could be saved, which corresponds to the CO2 conversion performance of 1,200 trees. In addition, 1774 conversion days were recorded in which the participants changed their usual mobility behavior and hit more sustainable ways. These figures illustrate the potential of sustainable mobility solutions in rush hour.
Kerstin Hurek, Head of Transport Policy, draws a positive balance: "The climate pendulum challenge not only reduced CO2 emissions at short notice, but also raised awareness of sustainable mobility in the participating companies. This laid the foundation for long-term changes in the mobility behavior of the employees and in some cases has led to further operational measures to promote sustainable mobility. The ACE Auto Club Europe has shown how companies and their employees can actively contribute to climate protection.
