federal victory "colorful instead of blue": student from Lower Saxony wins DAK competition against the noise drinking

A student from Lower Saxony has won this year's nationwide DAK poster competition "Colorful instead of blue-art against coma running". The 16-year-old Gita Maali from Leer prevailed against 6,000 other students. The competition, which takes place for the 15th time, is part of the prevention campaign of DAK health on the subject of alcohol abuse. The award ceremony took place today in the Federal Ministry of Health in Berlin. The Federal Government Commissioner for Addiction and Drug Questions Burkhard Blienert is the Bundeshaller of the competition.

The poster competition "Colorful instead of blue" invites pupils between the ages of twelve and 17 to design creative posters against the noise drinking. Since the start of the campaign in 2010, a total of around 136,000 students have participated. Current studies show the effectiveness of the prevention campaign.

The Jury's poster was convincing with strong contrasts and artistic changes of perspective. On the one hand, it shows lust for life and joy, on the other hand despair and fear. The main character on the poster is tied up and literally hangs on empty bottles. This impressive representation of the message of "colorful instead of blue" praised Andreas Storm, CEO of DAK-Gesundheit, especially.

In addition to Gita Maali, the second and third-placed posters were also awarded. Paulina Abres from Hesse reached second place and Maria Swiridow from Brandenburg. There was also a special prize for young talents and an Instagram special price.

Studies by the Institute for Therapy and Health Research (IFT-NORD) show that the posters of the same age have a more sustainable effect on young people than conventional warnings. A current study from 2024 shows that young people who took part in "colorful instead of blue" have a lower affinity for drinking into noise than students in comparison groups.

The prevention campaign "Colorful instead of blue" has been carried out by DAK health for 15 years. Despite the positive decline in clinic admissions due to alcohol abuse, Andreas Storm emphasizes that the education and prevention in this area are still important. Together with the "Action Glash Clar" of the IFT-Nord, DAK health offers teachers and parents that are precisely accommodated to address the topic of alcohol abuse at an early stage.

The information and winner of the current competition as well as further information on the “Colorful instead of blue” campaign can be found on the DAK-Gesundheit website.
