School am Gartenfeld: Successful return after seven years!
School am Gartenfeld: Successful return after seven years!
After years of challenges, the extensive renovation of the school on the garden field was finally completed. The school community recently celebrated the return to its traditional location at Gartenfelder Straße 81. Carola Brückner were among the guests who accompanied the ceremonial handover.
Originally, only a revision of the sanitary facilities was planned. However, serious problems regarding fire protection and statics occurred during construction. These shortcomings made it necessary to temporarily change the students to Seecktstraße 2 in 2017. In the course of the local investment program, a comprehensive energetic renovation could be carried out, which went far beyond the first planning.
extensive renovation measures
The renovation included significant improvements, including the creation of barrier -free access and the modernization of classrooms. A new music room was added, as was a large distribution kitchen. The facade was also renovated to optimize thermal insulation. The road and green space office was decisive for the redesign of the outdoor area. Despite the numerous improvements, the construction work was not without difficulty.
The renovation was made difficult by a variety of construction lengths and legal conflicts with construction companies that caused additional delays. The tense situation in the construction industry also led to a bumpy implementation in the technical equipment of the buildings.
"It is a remarkable end of a strenuous phase," said Dr. Carola Brückner. "The school now shines in new splendor and offers the students a wonderful place to learn and laugh." Around 50 children have been learning in these newly renovated premises since the beginning of the school year. Up to 66 students could attend school in perspective, since parts of the community will remain in Seecktstraße 2.
This branch will even be expanded into the headquarters of the school on the garden field in the next few years in order to meet the growing need for specialized support measures. A modular supplementary construction for children with the "intellectual development" needs are already being planned. The total cost of energetic renovation amounts to around 10 million euros.
The building authority of the Facility Management service unit took responsibility for the implementation of the project and thus ensured that the new location would meet the modern requirements in schools.
