New Boulebahn opened in Gatow: Citizens' engagement for community sports

In Gatow, the charming country town, there is a new reason for joy! Today the new boule railway was officially inaugurated, a project that emerged from the wishes and zest for action by the citizens of Kladow. The idea behind this fantastic sports facility was so strong that it was heard to the Spandau district office.

It was a committed team of citizens who turned to the city councilor Thorsten Schatz to realize their vision. After an on-site visit and intensive reviews of suitable locations, the project was realized in cooperation with the dedicated trainees of the street and green space office.

The now finished boule railway is a real piece of jewelry! With a weatherproof path blanket and stable concrete borders, it offers the perfect frame for exciting games. The train was completed in September 2024 - a month that can become a sporting experience for many!

With costs of around 10,000 euros, this was an ambitious undertaking, but thanks to generous donations from the Lünnemann families and Weiß, the amount could be significantly covered. The district was wearing the rest - an example of successful cooperation between citizens and the administration!

This new facility is not only a place for experienced boules players, but also inspires everyone who wants to do sports outdoors. Here the focus is on sociable togetherness - a place where neighbors meet, laugh and become active together.

City Councilor Thorsten Schatz emphasized at the opening ceremony: "I am very pleased that we were able to successfully implement this project initiated by citizens. My special thanks go to the families Lünnemann and Weiß, who contributed to the realization of the boulebahn. Your commitment is a nice example of the close cooperation between the citizenship and administration in realizing public projects."
