Refurbishment urgently needed: Germany's economic future on the brink
The alarm bells ring! Germany is on the abyss-and the two experts from the Bonn Economic Academy (BWA), Harald Müller and Astrid Orthmann, are beating with their new book "Refurbishment case Germany: Let's tackle it!" Drastic tones. For over 25 years, they accompanied companies in the crisis and helped more than 10,000 people to find bankruptcy into a new professional life. But now the entire business location is in danger!
The two authors do not put a leaf out of their mouth: "Germany's business location is on fire!" Companies migrate, the former nation of innovations is caught in the digital Stone Age. Formerly leading in industrial achievements, reality looks bleak when it comes to future technologies such as artificial intelligence. Müller and Orthmann reveal the terrifying reasons for this decline - and these are alarming!
The reasons for decline
An economic policy that gives past reality, a missed energy transition and catastrophic labor market measures in the face of demographic change: this is the recipe for economic ruin! An exuberant bureaucracy suffocates the corporate culture and ensures that the companies fall by the wayside. But that's not all! Germany has gotten away from many decisions to the EU, which in turn pursues a toxic agenda.
But it is not just criticized! Müller and Orthmann give a glimmer of hope: an economic policy plan should initiate structural change! "With the right measures, the turnaround can succeed," promises Müller optimistically, while Orthmann points out: "Time is crowded!"
The alarming economic figures
The naked numbers speak a clear language: While the global economy grows by three percent in 2023, Germany shrinks by 0.3 percent! In an international comparison, Germany draws the shorter - "Germany: Zero Points" is like a nightmare. Wirtschafts forecasts have been dramatically corrected downwards: Instead of a hoped -for growth of 1.3 percent, only 0.1 percent will be assumed for 2024!
The predicament becomes all the more dramatic when we look at the direct investment. In 2022, 121 billion euros left Germany - the largest drain among 46 examined states! The euphoria about the planned semiconductor factory of Intel in Magdeburg has evaporated because the investment is now at risk.
In summary, we experience a "quartet of the negative factors": a shortage of skilled workers, excessive energy costs, a paralyzing bureaucracy and cloudy future prospects make Germany a problem child among the OECD countries-only 20th in productivity development is the sad evidence!
The new economic strategy of the federal government, which was presented in autumn 2023, is all the more exciting. An ambitious plan to make Germany strong again. But the idea of a state -regulated economy could create more problems than solve. A public debt of over 2,500 billion euros - how should this be mastered in the future? The answer to the debt burden is terrifying: If nobody would accept new debts anymore, Germany would have to remove one billion euros every month in order to be completely debt -free! An unrealistic scenario that shows that time is pushing and the challenges are enormous!
In this tense environment, it becomes clear: Germany now has to act so as not to get off the economic offside. Müller and Orthmann show the way - but will politics make the right decisions?
