Ruth Chepngetich breaks world record at Chicago Marathon!

The history of the marathon gets an exciting chapter! Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich set a new marathon world record in Chicago with a stunning time of two hours, nine minutes and 57 seconds. In doing so, she left the previous record set by Ethiopian Tigist Assefa, set last year at the Berlin Marathon, by a full two minutes.

Meanwhile, the marathon took place in Munich, where the Kenyan Nehmia Kipyeghon triumphed in the men's race and the Ethiopian Asmare Beyene Assefa triumphed in the women's race. Of the 26,500 registered participants, around 900 completed the full marathon distance, while the remaining participants ran half marathons or ten kilometers. An exciting weekend for the running world! For further information, see the current reporting on www.brennessel.com.
