Waidmannslust celebrates 150 years: Large anniversary events planned!

On May 24, 2025, the 150th anniversary of the district began in Waidmannslust. As part of these celebrations, a photo exhibition on the history of the Volta works in the historic factory hall on Oraniendamm 72 was opened. District City Councilor Korinna Stephan from the Greens emphasized the importance of the anniversary for the district at the opening. District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner from the CDU thanked the citizens' initiative for the organization of the comprehensive program.

The festival is supplemented by various events. A festival service that will take place on June 22nd and a neighborhood festival on July 20 are planned. The district office participates with a reading, a lecture and another photo exhibition by the Reinickendorf Museum. All events are supported by local associations, schools and the church. In a similar historical context, the Stangenroth volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 150th anniversary. The celebrations that started with a church parade and a festival service attracted numerous visitors. The district fire councilor Benno Metz and State Secretary Sandro Kirchner were among the guests. Mayor Daniel Wehner honored the association for his voluntary work.

The voluntary commitment in the fire brigade was also recognized by the celebration of Sebastian Bierdel's 25th anniversary in Rahlstedt. State area leader Harald Burghardt gave a speech in which he praised Bierdel's merits. His early fire brigade career began in 1994 in the Tonndorf youth fire brigade before moving to the Rahlstedt volunteer fire brigade in 2000, where he took numerous management positions.

Bierdel is not only involved in the operational department, but also actively in the youth fire brigade and plays an important role in the training of young fire brigade. His contribution to the fire brigade landscape is considered to be decisive, which its awards and appreciation by the Wandsbek area prove.
