Reinickendorf relies on sustainability: Digital salon addresses circular economy
District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), together with Digitalagentur Berlin GmbH, organized the Reinickendorfer digital salon on the subject of sustainability, in particular circular economy and green IT. The mayor emphasized the importance of sustainable initiatives at local, state and federal level in order to redefine prosperity and value. In Reinickendorf there are various sustainable projects such as the still mall, the socialware department store Soproro and the department store of Rabauke e.V., which promote the idea of reuse. The adult education center and the still mall offer courses to do and repair objects. Sports clubs in Reinickendorf are also committed to continuing to use sports clothing. In addition, there is the possibility to donate old glasses in the Reinickendorf town hall. A coordinator of development policy in the district office has been working on creating a Reinickendorfer Agenda 2030 with a focus on sustainability goals since the end of February.
Thomas Gros, managing director of Circulee GmbH, presented during the digital salon how Green IT works and how everyone can help use electrical appliances more sustainable. By long use and reuse used IT, up to 80 percent of CO2 emissions can be saved.
Overall, the Reinickendorfer digital salon shows the variety of initiatives and projects in Reinickendorf, which are committed to sustainability and circular economy. It becomes clear that both administration and civil society make their contribution to reaching the global sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda. Through consciousness formation and concrete measures, positive changes can be caused in the direction of a more sustainable future.
