Earlier completion: New Middle Island in Berliner Strasse already released

The construction work on Berliner Straße, Höhe Waldseeweg, was completed almost two months earlier than planned. The central island, which enables a safe crossing of the busy Berliner Straße (B96), was released on April 24, although the original completion was planned for June 14th.

Julia Schrod-Thiel (CDU), district councilor for order, environment and traffic, was pleased to comment on the premature completion of the construction work. It attributes the faster conclusion to an optimized construction process and the mild weather. Due to the early completion, the restrictions for the road users were able to be canceled earlier and the measure for traffic safety could come into play faster.

The central island on Berliner Straße offers a direct connection between Hermsdorf/Schildow and the Hermsdorf S-Bahn station and is the third measure to increase road safety in the direct catchment area of the transport hub. This project is considered an important step to improve traffic safety in the region.

In the following table, further information on the construction measure and their early completion are listed:

| Construction phase | Start of construction | Original completion Early completion |
| ———————— | ———- |- ———————————————— |
| Berliner Strasse | March 10, 2022 | June 14, 2022 | April 24, 2022 |

The quick completion of the construction work on Berliner Straße shows how efficient project management and favorable weather conditions can help to complete construction projects faster and to improve traffic safety.
