District Mayor Reinickendorf intensified relationships with the Bundeswehr

Reinickendorfs Bezirksbürgermeisterin Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) hat am Montag, den 6. Mai, angekündigt, die partnerschaftlichen Beziehungen zur Bundeswehr zu intensivieren. Seit fast drei Jahrzehnten pflegt der Bezirk Reinickendorf Patenschaften mit der Bundeswehr. Dabei ging das damalige Heeresmusikkorps 400 im Jahr 1995 eine Patenschaft mit dem Bezirk Reinickendorf ein, die später in „Stabsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr“ umbenannt wurde. Ebenso unterhält die 7. Kompanie des Wachbataillons beim Bundesministerium der Verteidigung seit 1996 eine enge und freundschaftliche Patenschaft mit dem Bezirk. The Reinickendorf district has been maintaining sponsorships with the Bundeswehr for almost three decades. The then Army Music Corps 400 in 1995 received a sponsorship with the Reinickendorf district, which was later renamed "Bundeswehr's Music Corps". Likewise, the 7th company of the guard battalion at the Federal Ministry of Defense has maintained a close and friendly sponsorship with the district since 1996. Reinickendorf's district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) announced on Monday, May 6th, to intensify the partnership-based relationships with the Bundeswehr. The Reinickendorf district has been maintaining sponsorships with the Bundeswehr for almost three decades. The Bundeswehr supports the district primarily in the protocol accompaniment of commemorative celebrations, such as May 8th. Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner emphasized the appreciation of the Reinickendorf citizens' work and the commitment of the Bundeswehr and thanked her warmly for their support. The collaboration worked out excellently, especially during the corona pandemic.

The representatives of the staff music corps and the 7th company of the wax battalion also thanked for the support of the district and said to participate in the day of the open town hall. This close partnership and mutual recognition show the connection between the Bundeswehr and the Reinickendorf district.

Historically, the Bundeswehr has a long tradition in Berlin and also in the Reinickendorf district. The close cooperation with local administration strengthens the relationship between the army and the civilian population, which is particularly important in times like today's, in which security and cohesion are of great importance.
