New Center for Disaster Protection: 8 million euros for Fulda

A huge step for disaster protection in Germany! Fulda will soon become the scene of a spectacular museum that focuses on the tireless helpers of the German rescue system. The budget committee of the German Bundestag has decided to provide a breathtaking grant of eight million euros for the planned joint museum of the German fire brigades and the technical relief organization (THW). This large project is entitled "Help in Need" and emphasizes the successful interaction of two vital organizations.

The atmosphere is electrifying! The existing German Fire Brigade Museum, which has been based here since 1988, is not only rebuilt, but also expanded. The vision is clear: a modern center for population protection and disaster relief is to be created, which presents the services and the history of fire brigade and THW alive. Karl-Heinz Banse, the President of the German Fire Brigade Association, sums it up: "I am very happy about this future-oriented promotion of our unique project". It's a real reason for the celebration!

The concept stands for innovation! Together, the city of Fulda, the German Fire Brigade Association and the THW Federal Association submitted an application to receive financial support from the Kulturinvest funding program. The new museum will be a center for exhibitions, research, education and encounter and thus take up a topic that has never been an end. The participants are certain that this project will shine far beyond the borders of Fulda.

The Mayor of Fulda, Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld is enthusiastic: "The sentence 'Future needs origin' can be filled with life with this decision." The city wants to do everything possible to reward the trust placed in it and to make the museum a radiant example of cohesion in society. Martin Gerster, President of the THW Federal Association, also sees this as a strong signal for the importance of fire brigade and THW: "With the considerable grant, the federal government honors the outstanding position of the fire brigades and THW in the danger defense."

In total, over 1.4 million fire brigade members in Germany have a special place in this story, because more than 95 percent of the helpers are active in volunteer fire departments. With its central location and excellent transport connection, Fulda offers the perfect platform for this unique museum, which is dedicated to the volunteer and their tireless efforts.
