New mobility concept for Wilmersdorf: Safe, green and life -friendly!

Trautenaustraße 5, 10717 Berlin, Deutschland - This day, July 9, 2025, the final exhibition of the plans for the new mobility concept on Leon-Jessel-Platz and Nikolsburger Platz will open in the Pangea House at Trautenaustraße 5 in Berlin Charlottenburg. The exhibition is accessible up to and including Thursday, July 31, 2025, and aims to increase traffic safety and the quality of life of the resident in the Wilmersdorfer neighborhood. The main focus of the concept is on the promotion of bike and foot traffic and the development of measures to adapt to climate change.

The public final presentation of the mobility concept took place on Thursday, July 3, 2025. In this presentation, the team from the room for participation together with the Hoffmann-Leichter planning office presented the prepared proposals. For questions, the room is available for participation in Mierendorffstraße in Berlin. Interested parties can register via email or by phone.

Sustainable mobility in focus

A similar goal is the mobility concept of the University of Potsdam, which was created at the end of 2021. This concept, also developed by Hoffmann-Leichte Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, aims to create sustainable mobility for all user groups. A comprehensive analysis of the specific mobility requirements was carried out. The consideration of all means of transport, including motorized private transport, local public transport, cycling and foot traffic, forms the basis for the jointly developed measures.

A central element of the Potsdam concept is the interlinking of the various means of transport to use the mutual interactions and synergy effects. This enables sustainable mobility that is both in the interest of the environment and in the sense of the user. Measures that are to be implemented by 2035 are continuously checked to evaluate their effectiveness.

Total strategy for urban mobility

The importance of sustainable mobility is also emphasized in the vision "The City for Tomorrow", which was published by the Federal Environment Agency in March 2017. This initiative was part of the “Sustainable City Transport 2050” project, the aim of which is to develop an overall strategy for sustainable mobility in urban areas. The associated measures are intended to reduce air pollution, noise and surface consumption without restricting mobility and goods transport.

In this context, the relevance of the new mobility concepts in Berlin and Potsdam becomes clear, since they contribute to the quality of life of the citizens and take into account the requirements of sustainable urban development. The results of the various mobility projects are therefore an important step towards a more environmentally friendly and more efficient urban mobility.
