MigrAktiv Spandau: Strengthening the future of youth welfare with migrants!

The recently launched project “MigrAktiv Spandau!” aimed to promote the networking and strengthening of migrant organizations in Spandau. Loud Berlin.de This project will start in April 2024 and run for three years. A central element of the project is to promote the recognition of these organizations as independent providers of child and youth welfare. This is intended to achieve a diversity-oriented design in youth welfare.

The underrepresentation of migrant organizations in youth welfare represents a challenge. Children from migrant communities often experience exclusion, which makes the role of migrant organizations even more important. These organizations bring valuable perspectives, experiences and skills into youth welfare and ensure that different realities of life are taken into account through trustworthy offers.

Networking meeting for youth welfare

On June 19, 2025, a networking meeting on the topic of “Recognition as an independent provider of child and youth welfare” will take place in the Spandau town hall. The event, which is led by the head of youth welfare planning at the Spandau district office, Ms. Ridderbusch, offers lectures, impulses and exchange opportunities. Anyone interested can register for free until June 17th.

The project is funded by the State of Berlin and the Spandau District Integration Fund. It is being professionally supported by the Integration Office of the Spandau District Office, which has already provided further information. Access to the necessary information can also be obtained via the contact channels for MigrAktiv Spandau.

Growing role of migrant organizations

Migrant organizations have become more important in recent years, particularly due to the political interest of the new federal government. A study by the Expert Council for Integration and Migration shows that there are between 12,400 and 14,300 migrant organizations in Germany, many of which are active in social and educational areas, such as child and youth work and refugee assistance Report from the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Migrant organizations not only support integration projects, but also offer valuable support for newly immigrated people. Members of these organizations often bring their own migration experiences, which make them an important contact point for integration. The Federal Office therefore supports these organizations in various forms and advocates for their professionalization in order to establish them as permanent contacts for the state BAMF.

The challenges that migrants experience in Germany make the work of these organizations essential. A greater focus on their networking can not only make it easier to introduce new programs, but also help ensure that different perspectives are incorporated into the social discussion.

In summary, “MigrAktiv Spandau!” plays a central role as an important project to support migrant organizations in Berlin. Through networking and recognition as youth welfare providers, these organizations can help strengthen integration and diversity in society.
