On Friday, May 31, 2024, the StZ PestalozziTreff in Berlin-Mahlsdorf celebrates not only the traditional festival of the neighbors, but also its twenty-year existence as a district center. The house is promoted by the Senate Department for Labor, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination and offers leisure and educational offers as well as a place for gatherings. Before the fall of the wall, the house housed a meeting place and later a senior leisure center before it became a Pestalozzitreff.
Since the opening of the district center in 2004, new offers have been implemented continuously, such as language courses, artistic activities, PC training, sporting activities and advisory services. The center serves as a meeting point for all generations and offers space for family celebrations, club life and other occasions. The special thing about this center is that most of the courses and offers are organized by volunteers.
On the festival day, visitors can expect a wide range of participation offers on the large meadow at the Pestalozzi meeting. There are drums, clowning, face painting, handicraft offers, puppet theater and much more. Purchase joys are also available with coffee, cake, a grill stand, salads, Italian ice cream and cotton candy. The Alex band will play from 5:00 p.m. and visitors can dance under the covered terrace. The center is supported by numerous helpers and cooperation partners from the district, including the family center Mahlsdorf, the AWO district meeting Mahlsdorf-Süd, the Jao-Kita "Rosengarten", the district library Mahlsdorf, the Mahlsdorf-Süd e.V. and the social and youth welfare office of the district office Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
