Artist talk in the cultural center: Oskar Schmidt in dialogue with Kito Nedo

Marco Brauchmann, district councilor for further training, school, culture and sport, announced that Schmidt quoted bonds from the art history of the GDR, in particular the socialist realism of the late Leipzig school. In this exchange, topics such as evaluation criteria in art, the gap between periphery and center as well as eastern and western perspectives are discussed. Kito Nedo, a renowned art critic who was most recently awarded the ADKV Art Cologne Prize, brings his in-depth knowledge of fine art and cultural policy.

In addition, the group exhibition "The kids are not Alright!" by January 31, 2025. This exhibition shows works by artists such as Nadja Buttendorf, Susan Donath and Oskar Schmidt and addresses the effects of the turning events on the life of the artists. As part of this series of exhibitions, there is also a varied program. On Friday, October 11, 2024, the documentary "Progress in the valley of the unsuspecting" by Florian Kunert will be presented, the 66-minute film of which is celebrated at the Berlinale. The Adlershof gallery, which is part of the Old School Cultural Center, is open from Tuesday to Saturday and admission is free of charge.
