The district association of allotment gardeners Reinickendorf was recently honored for its 100th anniversary. The celebration, which was under the motto "A small garden is also a big task", was visited by numerous prominent guests, including district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner and the district prescribed Kerstin Köppen. The state chairman of Berlin's allotment gardeners, Gerd Schoppa, as well as the district councilors Uwe Brockhausen and Julia Schrod-Thiel were also present.
The mayor emphasized in her speech the important role of the allotment gardens as recreation areas that make a valuable contribution to the city green and the ecological balance. She praised the work of the association board members Thorsten Fritz, Frank Bienek, Kai Hoffmann and Reiner Kolotzei, who are particularly committed to social projects such as the social garden, the Fuchsgarten and the senior garden.
Thanks to the commitment of the volunteers, these projects can be realized and contribute to promoting the coexistence between generations and cultures. The mayor presented the district association a check for 500 euros on behalf of the district office to support the great work of the association and continued to wish for the coming years.
