Flood protection in the region: THW works tirelessly against the apex wave

alarm mood at night: The dreaded vertex wave of the Oder flood has now arrived in the districts of Oder-Spree, Märkisch-Oderland and the city of Frankfurt/Oder! While the water presses unstoppably, every second is crucial. Fortunately: thanks to the courageous use of around 130 THW staff, worse floods and dike damage have so far been averted!

But the danger is far from a bit averted! The THW helpers are together with firefighters in Frankfurt/or in constant use. Yesterday evening the flood protection wall was reinforced to stop a dangerous leak. In addition, they increased the sandbag walls that have to stand against the water masses like a bulwark. From this evening, active dike control through the THW begins to discover potential damaged spots in good time.

In Märkisch-Oderland, the THW is offensive against the impending floods! The rescuers on the Oder are on the go with a boat to rescue flotsam. And also on the sandbag logistics field in Eisenhüttenstadt, the THW forces work around the clock on the front front: 20,000 sandbags are ready to secure every little seed as a small leak at the dikes.

Specifically, the use in Eisenhüttenstadt, Fürstenberg district, where the sandbag walls urgently need to be sealed and reinforced. The water is unpredictable and the water levels in Frankfurt/Oder and Ratzdorf drop slightly, but in Kienitz in the Märkisch-Oderland district, they climb again!
