Halloween 2025 in Berlin: Police stop young people with explosives!
On Halloween night from October 31st to November 1st, 2025, the situation in Berlin was comparatively calm, reports Daily Mirror. The police were on site with an increased presence of a total of 850 additional emergency services in order to prevent possible conflicts at an early stage, especially in view of the incidents of last year. These measures appear to have been successful as no major disruptions were reported.
However, there were also incidents that kept the police on their toes. In the Märkischesviertel in Reinickendorf, two minors were arrested who were carrying dangerous pyrotechnics and a suspected homemade explosive device. This prompted special forces from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), who were alerted due to the danger posed by the explosive device. The experts estimated that the amount of explosives could cause serious injuries, underlining the urgency of intervention.
Operations and controls
Throughout the city, the police patrolled well-known hotspots such as Gropiusstadt in Neukölln and Nahariyakiez in Tempelhof-Schöneberg. Things remained relatively quiet in Gropiusstadt, with only a few firecrackers being set off. For comparison, there were significant riots last year. 132 people were arrested there and numerous proceedings had to be initiated, including for breach of the peace and grievous bodily harm.
In addition to the high police presence, the police were also active on social media and warned against the use of pyrotechnics. This not only applied to Berlin, but was also noticed in other cities. For example, the Halloween evening in Hamburg was largely quiet, even if there were occasional bans on staying and the seizure of pyrotechnics n-tv reported.
Review of incidents from the previous year
Looking back at the events of the previous year is particularly revealing. In 2024, the police in several cities such as Düsseldorf reported an aggressive and provocative atmosphere, which was accompanied by frequent reports of physical injuries and riots. In order to avoid confrontations, the police intervened early and consistently. Thanks to these strategies, there were no serious incidents on Halloween night. However, the challenge remains to ensure even safer Halloween celebrations next year.
Overall, Halloween night in Berlin 2025 was characterized by a clear police presence, which protected against a possible aftershock of the previous year's events and kept conflicts largely under control. This gives hope that the authorities' initiative to act preventively will continue to bear fruit in the future.
