Domestic violence: woman stabs with knives on fiancee - the story of Pia M. and Conrad L. from Reinickendorf

domestic violence remains a serious problem in Germany and worldwide. In 2022, mostly women in Berlin were the victims of such violent acts. However, there are also cases in which women are the perpetrators, as in the case of the medical assistant Pia M. from Reinickendorf. Pia attacked her fiancee Conrad L. with a bread knife, triggered by frenzied jealousy.

In the trial before the district court, Pia stated not to be able to remember the incident in detail because both had drunk something. However, the judge made it clear that the report at PIA found an alcohol content of 2.88 per thousand. Pia stated that a trigger for her act was a message she discovered on Conrad's cell phone. A friend of Conrad had a problem with which he wanted to help. Pias Groll grew and when Conrad finally came home late, all the fuses burned with her.

The indictment was that Pia Conrad stuck twice into the chest area on the left, then drove over his neck with the knife and had threatened to kill him. When he wanted to leave the room, she also stabbed him in the back. Conrad did not take Pias anger seriously and even teased her. He described the knife stitch as a prick and said he didn't even go to the hospital and had not carried out scars. A policeman who was at the scene at the time noticed that Conrad was sitting in the hallway and was relatively relaxed while Pia kept saying: "I didn't want to kill him."

unexpectedly, Conrad asks the court not to punish Pia because he saw that he has provoked it. He thinks he should be on the dock. However, the judge sees this differently and sentenced Pia to ten months in prison for dangerous bodily harm. Pia's preliminary penalty due to theft and the alcohol value at the time of the crime were also taken into account. The judge emphasized that it did not matter whether it was a one -time incident. It was simply unacceptable to start a person with a knife.

Despite the incident, this has no negative impact on the relationship between Pia and Conrad. Both assert that they still love each other, and the wedding postponed at the time will be made up soon.

It is important that domestic violence is condemned in any form. Nobody should have to experience or exercise violence in a relationship or at home. There are many offers of help for those affected and perpetrators to support them in dealing with such situations and receiving help.
