Cruel modernization: Pensioners fight for his home
In the district court of Wedding, almost 50 people gather to pursue the trial against 84-year-old Manfred Moslehner. He is driven out of the house after a long fight in which he spent his whole life. The investor, who acquired the settlement in Berlin-Reinickendorf, wants to modernize the houses and thus benefit. Despite the double termination of the rental agreement and the eviction lawsuit, men do not avoid the support of many friends and the tenant community.
The judge, who regretted the situation with regret, questions whether a judgment must be made. Since the sale of the settlement in 2010, tenants have been fighting against the investor's modernization plans. Many of them have already died and their houses have been modernized and resold. Manne refuses to accept the modernization measures because he cannot afford the higher rent.
Discussions in the court showed that Manfred Moslehner had rejected implementation apartments nearby that are no longer available. The judge inquires about Mannes willingness to leave his home, whereupon he hesitates that he has no other choice. His lawyer has submitted a certificate that documents his mental stress. The decision on the evacuation is expected to be made in the coming week.
Hartmut Lenz, the man who supports the tenants, leaves the courtroom with tears in the eyes. However, there is hope that a member of the Bundestag, Canan Bayram from the Greens, could convey between the investor and the tenant. The future of Manfred Moslehner remains uncertain for the time being, and the decision about his fate is in the hands of the judge.
