Magical new opening: Children's magic world in the Volkspark Wilmersdorf

Am Samstag, den 25. Mai 2024, wird der Kinderspielplatz im Volkspark Wilmersdorf – Spielplatz am Rias an der Kufsteiner Straße eröffnet, nachdem er zu einer faszinierenden Zauberwelt umgestaltet wurde. Die Besucherinnen und Besucher können sich auf eine Wasserspielfläche freuen, auf der Sand gesiebt und Zaubertränke angerührt werden können. Eine Burg aus Holz mit vielen Türmen, Hängebrücken, Kletternetzen und einer Tunnel-Wendel-Rutsche lädt kleine Magierinnen und Magier zum Staunen und Erobern ein. On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the children's playground in the Volkspark Wilmersdorf - playground on Rias on Kufsteiner Strasse will open after it has been converted into a fascinating magic world. Visitors can look forward to a water play area on which sand can be sifted and stirring potions. A wooden castle with lots of towers, suspension bridges, climbing nets and a tunnel-ward-slide invites small magicians to marvel and conquer. It is particularly gratifying that the water feature area and a large game device have been prepared for wheelchair children.

During the opening ceremony, guests can enjoy a colorful program. There will be face painting, magic wands, balloon animals and even a small magic show. The children's and youth parliament organized a stand with a wheel of fortune for various small prizes that are suitable for the European elections. In addition, a gems are available.

Planning for the playground began in May 2020 by the Children's and Youth Parliament (KJP) and the decision-making process for designing the game systems was determined equally by the KJP and the green spaces department in 2022. The construction costs for the redesign amounted to around 1.1 million euros, which were financed through the daycare and playground reworking program (KSSP).

It is gratifying to see how this playground becomes a place of imagination and inclusion for children and their families. The redesign and opening certainly help to improve the quality of life in the area and to offer children a safe and creative space for playing and learning.
