There was an apartment fire in Niederschönhausen in which a 47-year-old man died. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Drama in Niederschönhausen: dead in fire in apartment building!
This morning a dramatic fire broke out in an apartment building in Niederschönhausen. At around 4:25 a.m., residents alerted the fire department after the shrill alarm of a fire alarm sounded after they noticed the smell of fire coming from an apartment on the third floor. The fire department immediately evacuated the entire building and began extinguishing the fire.
During the operations, the fire fighters came across a suspicious object in the affected apartment. Special forces from the Forensic Institute were called in, but were able to give the all-clear - the object posed no danger. Tragically, the emergency services discovered a lifeless man in the apartment, who was identified as a 47-year-old resident. The investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway and has been taken over by the fire commissioner of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office.
