District office Mitte stops project: Mayor's digital file is prohibited

Embarrassing slump for interior senator Iris Spranger (61, SPD): A year ago she had announced the introduction of digital acts with big words - now the district office Mitte stops the project!

Spranger announced in June 2022: The digital file should be available throughout Berlin by the end of 2024 for around 70,000 PC workstations in around 80 authorities. She presented her plans in the Mitte district office - exactly from there the preliminary comes from the ambitious goals.

Mayor Stefanie Remlinger (52, Greens) prohibited her employees further using the digital acts. Reason: The software is not reliable, requires too many additional work steps. Remlinger emphasizes that she would only need eleven employees to scan the documents, as she stated to the RBB.

On request, the interior administration did not want to answer any questions yesterday and referred to the Senate Chancellery. Martina Klement (42), the new State Secretary for Digital, gave the B.Z. To the fact that there is high dissatisfaction with the digital file purchased by their predecessors and also demonstrable defects. She was already in discussions with the contractual partner to clarify the situation.

Klement admitted that the fact that the district has now even banned the use of digital acts was an alarm sign. However, it remains unclear how many authorities the digital acts are used and what becomes the original plans.
