Departure on the Neukölln shipping canal: New port district and highly house in Berlin planned

In the emerging Berlin district of Neukölln, there is currently a great change. In particular, the area around the Estrel Hotel on Ziegrastraße is scheduled to develop into a new port district in the next few years. The construction project called "Doxs NKLN" has the goal of creating a lively neighborhood in the style of a "port of cultures".

A central element of the project are three new buildings designed by the Graft architecture firm. The ground floor and the first floor will form a base area that will be suitable for the creative industries, gastronomy, culture and production -related businesses. The floors above are intended for flexible office units. The entire district should also have generous public bank.

The construction start for the project is already planned for the beginning of next year and the opening is scheduled for in mid -2026. The use of prefabricated modules is used to save time, energy and resources. In addition, existing paving stones are to be reused and the roofs are to be equipped with photovoltaic systems and green areas.

Another highlight of the harbor district on the Neukölln shipping canal is the new open-air catering called "Waterfront", which is located directly opposite the estrel hotel. There you can enjoy grilled food, salads and cool drinks under shade trees in good weather. There is also a walk -in installation by the British artist Yinka Ilori, at which a dance performer invites you to dance at 5:30 p.m.

The estrel hotel also has a lot to offer culturally. The show theater "Stars in Concert" is currently presenting a new program in which the "Divas" Donner Summer, Madonna, Cher, J.Lo and Marilyn Monroe are united on stage. From August 10th, an Elvis show will also be offered in which British artist Grahame Patrick is one of the best Elvis interpreters in the world.

In addition to the port district, further interesting construction projects are being built in Neukölln. For example, a new campus of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences will be built on the site of the former “Tacheles”. Future music and media managers, designers and IT specialists should find ideal conditions for their studies, including film and photo studios, studios and band rooms.

Overall, the change in the southern part of the S-Bahn ring in Neukölln promises an exciting change and offers many new opportunities for leisure activities, working and studying for both residents and visitors. The port district and the various construction projects help to develop Neukölln and to establish as an attractive district in Berlin.
