New medical management in the Frankfurt (Oder) Hospital
The Frankfurt Hospital (Oder) has had a new medical management since July 1, 2024. Prof. Dr. med. Christiane Richter-Ehrenstein was appointed medical director and Dr. med. Frank Wittstock elected deputy director. Both take over these positions after an election by the chief physicians of the hospital.
The previous medical director, Dr. med. Frank Hoffmann was retired after successfully representing the hospital's medical interests. Also Prof. Dr. med. Michael Kiehl, the previous deputy medical director, will retire as soon as a successor has been found for the position of the chief physician.
Jan Jakobitz, the managing director of the hospital, commented on the change: "I would like to thank both directors for the excellent and constructive cooperation. I congratulate the new elected official owners and look forward to successfully driving the interests of our hospital together."
Prof. Dr. med. Christiane Richter-Ehrenstein has been the chief physician for gynecology and obstetrics at the hospital since June 2013. She has more than 20 years of experience at the Charité and has made a name for herself through her work in the breast center and as a professor. In addition to her medical work, she is also intensively involved in the field of ethics advice. Dr. med. Frank Wittstock has been a chief physician for vascular surgery at the hospital for five years and is now appointed deputy medical director. The change in medical management offers the opportunity to strengthen communication and cooperation between the various professional groups in the hospital. The goal is to maintain and promote the best possible care for patients. Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration play an essential role. It is particularly important to improve cooperation beyond the professional groups and to take new ways in view of the hospital reform, emphasized Prof. Dr. med. Christiane Richter-Ehrenstein.
